Thursday, April 14th, 6:00-7:30pm (reception 7:30-8:30pm)

Economic growth remains the top priority in China, but how can the country encourage sustainable growth—maintaining or growing employment levels while also limiting the negative environmental impact? The Earth Institute and the Columbia Center for International Economic Exchanges invites you to an event that brings together a diverse array of professionals to discuss the perceived and actual relationships between environmental regulation and employment, and the most effective measures for creating sustainability-related economic growth. A cocktail reception will follow.

Keynote: Zhang Dawei, Vice Chairman and Secretary General, China Center for International Economic Exchanges

Moderator: Steve Cohen, Executive Director, The Earth Institute; Professor in the Practice of Public Affairs, School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University

Panelists:

  * Chen Wenling, Chief Economist, China Center for International Economic Exchanges
  * Satyajit Bose, Lecturer in Economics, School of Professional Studies, Columbia University
  * Kristina Alnes, Sustainability Consultant, AccountAbility
