Join GreenHomeNYC for an afternoon tour of the Sims Recycling Plant. 

Not only does the plant processes nearly 20,000 tons of waste per month, but does so in a state-of-the-art facility made of almost nothing but recycled steel. The plant is housed atop an 11-acre peer on what was once a NYPD impound lot. On site you’ll find a 600 kW photovoltaic installation, NYC’s first commercial size wind turbine, a stormwater management system that utilizes bioswales and a retention pond, flood-proof buildings supported by recycled glass and crushed rock as well as artificial reef habitats for aquatic life.
