Bard College Faculty Searches: MBA in Sustainability

Bard College’s low-residency MBA in Sustainability for the Power Sector has an opening for a visiting lecturer to teach the following course in Summer 2019: Economics for Decision Making.

The Economics course will cover the operation of market systems, including market failure and policy responses, with a special emphasis on power markets. This will include the impact of regulation on utility markets and the nuance of economic decision- making within those markets. The course should provide frameworks for assessing the competitive and policy environment, decision making, and strategies to successfully achieve business goals while meeting policy objectives. Additionally, the course can explore the interface of the economy with the ecosystem services and natural capital that provide its foundation and evaluate techniques for integrating ecological, social and economic decision-making.

Bard’s MBA program is one of a select group of programs globally that fully integrates sustainability into a business curriculum. Courses address core MBA material through a sustainability lens. Bard MBA students master the business case for sustainability and learn how to align profit with social and environmental goals.

The MBA in Sustainability for the Power Sector is a partnership between Bard College and the nation’s largest public utility. The program curriculum is focused on innovation, stakeholder-centered design, and leadership through disruptive change. Faculty members teach during intensive weekend residencies and online evening sessions each week between the residencies. The low-residency format allows flexibility in residential location.

MBA faculty members are expected to have earned a Ph.D., J.D., M.B.A., M.P.A., or equivalent degree. Successful candidates will have an established record of excellence in teaching.
