Social Media Lead (Remote Position)

WorldWide Teach-In on Climate and Justice



The Graduate Programs in Sustainability at Bard College
<https://gps.bard.edu/> in New York, USA have an opening for a remote,
short-term, part-time contract position as Social Media Campaign Lead for
Solve Climate by 2030. The social media campaign is driven by a small army
of worldwide interns, so much of the project involves teaching and
motivating this community. .

Time Frame: December 1-April 30

Hours : 20 hours per week

Compensation: $12,000

The position is renewable for December-April 2022-2023.



Position Description:

1. Organize and carry out a 10-week virtual internship in Social Media for
Climate Activism.  The internship combines learning about leading social
media platforms and practices with utilizing knowledge and skills in a
social media campaign to help engage 1000 colleges, universities, schools
and organizations and 1 million students in a WorldWide Teach-in on climate
solutions and climate justice <http://www.worldwideteachin.org/>to take
place on or around March 30, 2022.

2.. Manage the engagement of 150 interns in learning while doing, promoting
the Worldwide Teach-In.

3. Coordinate with and report to project leadership.

4. Provide a summary of the campaign with lessons learned

Goals for the internship and the campaign:


   -

   Organize and conduct 90 minute class meetings weekly with two options
   for meeting to accommodate students from around the globe from mid-January
   to early April.
   -

   Include guest speakers with extensive experience in social media
   management and climate justice action.
   -

   Educate interns about social media strategy, outreach & community
   management, and content creation. Help improve their communication skills,
   foster leadership abilities, and encourage consistent teamwork.
   -

   Facilitate active international social media Chapters.
   -

   Create a working system of communication to streamline teamwork and task
   completion.
   -

   Increase the follower count of each social media account, goal: three
   times the number of original followers.
   -

   Engage more than 100 additional institutions and more than 100,000
   followers to join Worldwide Teach-Ins.
   -

   Facilitate a community of interns that will stay with the Solve Climate
   By 2030 project post-internship to promote it.
   -

   Provide a post-project assessment.



Requirements:



   1.

   Experience with social media campaigns and volunteer coordination
   2.

   Experience in facilitating synchronous on-line learning
   3.

   Ability to educate, engage and inspire college-age youth.
   4.

   Familiarity with climate change issues.
   5.

   Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.
