<p class="MsoNormal">Moderated by<b> Satyajit Bose</b>, lecturer at Columbia’s School of Professional Studies and associate director of the Research Program on Sustainability Policy & Management, this event will explore the importance of a standardized system
to assess sustainability at the local level, as well as the value of measuring a broad but transparent set of indicators to encourage cities to begin a race to the top in sustainability performance. The event will introduce a new urban sustainability framework
and annual ranking of the sustainability performance of Chinese cities, and will discuss how such systems can complement China’s local policymaking, the balance between the state and the private sector, as well as sustainable development in China more broadly.
