them. Smart cities use information and communication technologies to increase operational efficiency, share information with the public and improve both the quality of government services and citizen welfare. China sees Smart Cities as the means to overcome
the nearly universal challenges of population expansion, traffic congestion, environmental degradation and resource shortages. Over 1,000 smart city pilot projects are ready for or are under construction worldwide and China is home to about 500 of them.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
