Summary:
A strong independent regulatory
authority is not only valuable but necessary for any country that utilizes
nuclear energy in its quest for energy diversity and security. The U.S. Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC) must be prepared, now and in the future, to provide
for the adequate protection of public health and safety and our environment,
while meeting whatever challenges lie ahead. Most importantly, this will
require the Agency to maintain a competent and dedicated workforce, which
continues to enhance its technical capabilities while always ensuring, to the
maximum extent possible, an open and transparent regulatory environment.
Join the Young Professionals in
Energy of New York at Columbia University for a discussion led by U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner, Dr. Peter Lyons.
During h
is presentation,
Commissioner Lyons will address:
-
The value of the independent role played by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC)

- The current
