BROOKLYN, New York, August 19, 2009


LUMENHOUSE exhibition space is pleased to present Urban Biotic co-curated by
Aurora Robson and Mariko Tanaka. This exhibition features 3 contemporary
Brooklyn artists: Deborah Brown, Jon Elliott and Hyungsub Shin. 

The work in Urban Biotic is a reflection of the biological manifesting
itself within industrial urban environments. Deborah Brown's oil paintings
harmoniously depict natures presence in the urban jungle of Brooklyn. Jon
Elliott offers "skeptical paintings, depicting mounds of old and obsolete
computers and televisions" wherein we find only subtle hints of natural
forms emerging from the obliterated earth. In Hyungsub Shin's sculptural
work, we witness a transformative organic force re-asserting itself over the
most mundane of industrial materials, such as janitorial mops and electrical
wires. 


Opening reception Thursday, September 3rd, 7-9 pm. 
This event is free and open to the public.

LUMENHOUSE exhibition space is located at 47 Beaver St., Brooklyn, NY 11206
(corner of Park St.) in East Williamsburg/Bushwick
LUMENHOUSE is 3 blocks from the J/M train Flushing Ave. Station. 
Visitors may park in front of the loading dock on Park St. nearest the 
corner of Beaver St.   
  

HOURS:   
LUMENHOUSE exhibition space is open 12-5 pm, Saturdays & Sundays. 
Weekdays by appointment only.
