The Sustainable Leadership Forum invites you to our monthly meeting,
Saturday afternoon, July 24th, 1-4 pm, Morris County Library, 30 East
Hanover Ave., Whippany, NJ 07981. Members are free; fees and opportunities
to volunteer, below. Please RSVP to rsvp at slforum.org.
Mary Reilly will speak on Communicating Sustainability Messages in the Face
of Resistance and Meric Ozgur, on the UN Global Compact 2010 Leaders'
Summit. Both speakers graduated from the FDU Certificate Program in Managing
Sustainability, and will share about it.
Mary Reilly, Principal of ReillyGreen and Associates, will conduct a
practical, hands-on workshop on influencing neighbors, employers,
co-workers, and friends to act in more sustainable ways. One of Mary's
special skills is presenting information to groups that initially resist a
message. Mary, an expert in group dynamics for over 20 years, understands
how to effect changes in small and large ways. In a workshop format,
participants will be able to practice what they learn, so they won't preach.
There will be a few case examples and participants will create their own
plan for how to discuss sustainability so they gain, rather than lose,
commitment from others. Mary has an MBA in Sustainability and Organizational
Development, is LEED accredited, Cranford Green Team Captain, has
contributed to the development of the Sustainable Jersey program andis LEED
Accredited. Ms. Reilly is an expert in effective teams, personal influence
and sustainability. Along with group effectiveness, she also specializes in
communications to groups when the group considers itself to be at risk.
Meric Ozgur will share what she learned as a volunteer at UN Global Compact
Leaders Summit in June 2010 in New York City. The Summit celebrated the 10
year anniversary of the UN Global Compact, convening business leaders from
around the world, and leaders from all sectors, to collaborate around bring
about more sustainable markets and the protection of the planet. Meric Ozgur
is a Human Resources Specialist in a global manufacturing company. She has
been involved in several sustainability projects involving the impact of
individual/ group behavior on business and society. She is a co-author of
the article, "Can Green Swim Upstream?" in this spring's issue of the Human
Resource Planning Society's People & Strategy Journal, focused on the green
economy. She received her undergraduate degree in Statistics at Middle East
Technical University, Ankara, Turkey and her EMBA degree at Fairleigh
Dickinson University (FDU), New Jersey.
Meric and Mary both participated in the graduate certificate program in
Managing Sustainability from FDU, and they will share about the program's
impact on their professional and personal lives.
