*Climate Change Themed Art Competition to Launch September Festivities*

*September 7, 2015 (New York) *- Over 25 international artists are using
their art to “make climate personal and practical” in the heart of New York
City with the Human Impacts Institute

Climate Awards

To kick off the season of all things related to climate change, the free,
September 21st opening party at the stunning Taipei Economic and Cultural
Office <http://www.taiwanembassy.org/US/NYC/mp.asp?mp=62> (TECO) on 42nd
street in Manhattan will launch a month-long exhibition of climate-inspired
performance art, installation, paintings, and short films.

“It’s clear that we need new, creative ways to communicate climate change
to a broader audience,” remarked the Human Impacts Institute’s Founder and
Executive Director, Tara DePorte, “inspiring people to take climate action
is what the Creative Climate Awards are all about.”

This year’s MC will be the effervescent designer, upcycler, and reality tv
personality Brooks Atwood, who will introduce acts such as the “Climate
Couture Fashion Show”, featuring designs that creatively communicating the
risks and vulnerabilities of communities facing climate impacts like sea
level rise.  Artists will also be competing for a $2000 first place prize
provided by TECO, decided based upon their artistic merit, messaging, and
climate impact by an elite group of judges including the Director of the
National Museum in Stockholm, Columbia University, and MoMA.
