TV and movies are renowned for inspiring long hours of inaction in front of a screen. But a new crop of creators are pushing the boundaries of this typically passive medium, inspiring action on pressing social issues by building movements around their films.

Who are these pioneers? What are their tactics? And what is their impact so far?

Join Net Impact for a panel discussion that explores the power of stories to change lives.

Moderated byDebika Shome, Deputy Director of The Harmony Institute
The Harmony Institute was created by Buzzfeed founder John S. Johnson to better understand media’s impact on its audiences. As Deputy Director of The Harmony Institute, Debika Shome leverages her background in the psychology of environmental communications to give us a deeper look at what media is making a difference and how. Story Pilot, the institute’s innovative new platform to measure films’ impacts, is currently in beta release.

Panelists
   - Douglas Dicconson, Co-Founder of Cinelan
   - Heather Asch, Director of No Strings Productions
   - Peggy Rajski, Director of Trevor and Founder of The Trevor Project

Co-sponsored by Net Impact NYC Professional Chapter and NYU Stern Social Enterprise Association
