Why pursue a CSR career? Why now?

While many CSR conferences explore best practices for current CSR
professionals, this event will offer career development and guidance for
current students and mid-career professionals interested in entering the CSR
field. In the past, there was no direct educational path to prepare for a
CSR career and positions often were filled internally by employees with
interest, but little specific CSR or sustainability education. Now, as more
top companies view CSR as an integral part of their business strategy, and
with the creation of more uniform data collection and reporting standards,
there is increasing professionalization within the field and more specific
knowledge and skill sets are in demand. However, what issues and skills are
relevant to a particular industry or business, and subsequently what type of
person will best fill that position, can vary greatly among industries.
This event will provide access to experts from a cross-section of industries
and businesses that take a variety of approaches to CSR work. Perspectives
will include:

* CSR educators & consultants
* Technology & electronics
* Real estate
* Professional services
* Consumer products
